1. ABOUT US

“We”, “us” or “our” means The Paul Kassel Corp. dba Gillespie Flight Center, with its principal place of business located at 1715 N. Marshall Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020-1124, United States.

We operate a Part 61 flight training school at Gillespie Field (KSEE) in El Cajon, California. Our instructors are independent contractors.

2. ABOUT THIS PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website, sign up for communications (including email and SMS/text messages), inquire about or enroll in flight training or other services, make payments, complete surveys or forms, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the “Services”).

Please read this Policy carefully. By using our Services or providing your information, you acknowledge the practices described here.

If you have questions, concerns, or complaints about this Privacy Policy or our handling of your personal information, contact us at flygfc@gillespieflightcenter.com.

3. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE COLLECT IT?

We collect personal information that you provide directly to us, including when you sign up for our newsletter, emails, or text messages; request information about flight training; enroll in programs; make payments; respond to surveys; or communicate with us.

Contact and identification information. Name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and other details needed to contact you or provide Services.

SMS / Text messaging information. If you opt in to receive text messages from us (for example, scheduling reminders, lesson updates, promotional offers, or service notifications), we collect your mobile phone number and confirmation of your consent. You will typically receive a confirmation text upon opting in. We may also collect limited engagement data (such as whether you reply or opt out) to manage the program.

Payment information. Bank account or credit card details when you purchase Services. This information is collected and processed by third-party payment processors; their privacy policies govern its use and storage.

Survey, feedback, and communications information. Information you provide in forms, surveys, questionnaires, promotions, feedback, or when contacting customer service (including how you contacted us and your preferences).

Other information. Any additional details you choose to share in connection with our Services.

We collect information directly from you, through our website or forms, via our SMS/email platform, and from service providers that assist us.

4. HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To send you newsletters, emails, SMS/text messages, or other information about our flight training programs, scheduling options, discovery flights, promotions, or Services that may interest you (only with your consent where required).

  • To reply to your questions or inquiries, provide customer support, send notices, updates, security alerts, or administrative messages (including lesson reminders and scheduling communications that support flexible, student-centered training).

  • To provide the Services you request, process enrollments, and carry out contracts with you (including billing and collection).

  • To monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities to improve our Services and the student experience.

  • To facilitate contests, promotions, or events and deliver related prizes or rewards.

  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, illegal activity, or threats to the security of our Services or customers.

  • To comply with legal obligations.

We may also use your information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

5. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING (WHERE APPLICABLE)

For customers in the United States, including California, we generally rely on:

  • Your consent (particularly for marketing emails and SMS/text messages).

  • The need to perform a contract with you (providing flight training and related Services).

  • Our legitimate business interests in operating the school, improving Services, ensuring security, and communicating about programs that fit your schedule — provided these interests do not override your privacy rights.

Where we are required to identify a specific legal basis (for example, for individuals in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with similar laws), we rely on consent, necessity for a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation, or protection of vital interests as applicable to the processing activity.

Contact us if you have questions about the legal basis for any specific processing.

6. HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We may share your personal information in these limited ways:

  • With vendors, consultants, and service providers who process it on our behalf (for example, our email and SMS platform provider, payment processors, analytics providers, or other operational support). These parties are obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

  • In connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business.

  • When required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect rights, property, or safety (we will only disclose if we have a good-faith belief it is legally required).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law. Any sharing is limited to the service providers and purposes described above.

7. YOUR MARKETING CHOICES AND OPT-OUT RIGHTS (INCLUDING SMS/TEXT MESSAGES)

We respect your choices. We send marketing or promotional messages only when you have opted in, made a purchase, or provided your details in connection with a promotion or registration (and only where permitted by law).

SMS / Text Messages By providing your phone number and opting in, you consent to receive recurring text messages from Gillespie Flight Center at the number you provided. Message frequency varies (for example, based on your training schedule or promotions). Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any Services or enrolling in training.

To opt out of SMS messages at any time, reply STOP to any text message you receive from us. You may also reply HELP for assistance. Opting out of SMS will not automatically unsubscribe you from email or other communications (you must manage those separately).

Email and Other Marketing You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any message we send. You can also request to stop receiving marketing messages at any time by contacting us at flygfc@gillespieflightcenter.com.

We will ask for your consent before sharing your personal information with any third party for their own direct marketing purposes.

8. DATA SECURITY

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include access controls, encryption where appropriate, and secure service providers.

No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law.

9. RETENTION OF YOUR DATA AND DELETION

We keep your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide Services, comply with legal obligations (such as record-keeping for SMS consent), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

When determining retention periods we consider the nature and sensitivity of the information, the risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, our business needs, and legal requirements. SMS consent records may be retained longer to demonstrate compliance.

You may request deletion of your personal information as described in the “Your Data Protection Rights” section, subject to legal and operational exceptions.

10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your personal information is primarily processed in the United States. If we transfer personal information outside the United States (for example, to certain service providers), we take appropriate steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

11. YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS (INCLUDING CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS)

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information. To exercise them, contact us using the details in the “Contact Us” section. We respond to verifiable requests in accordance with applicable law.

General rights may include:

  • Access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.

  • Objection to or restriction of processing.

  • Portability of your personal information (in a structured, commonly used format).
