INSTRUMENT RATING (IR)

Fly Through the Clouds with Confidence

The Instrument Rating is where you become a precision pilot.
This certification allows you to fly safely and legally in low visibility, clouds, and challenging weather conditions, a skill that dramatically elevates your safety, capability, and professionalism in the cockpit.

Whether you’re pursuing advanced training, preparing for airline pathways, or simply want the confidence to fly when the weather isn’t perfect, this is the rating that gives you full command of the aircraft.

At Gillespie Flight Center (GFC), you’ll train in a supportive environment where complex IFR concepts become clear, practical, and achievable. You’ll build a level of confidence, discipline, and capability that carries through your entire flying career.

$15,000 – $20,000

Cost varies based on:

  • Aircraft selection

  • Sim time

  • Flying frequency

  • Total hours required before checkride
